The choir had its beginnings as an ensemble, which was formed to encourage those leaving the Junior Choir to continue singing. In order to extend the range of performance, it was decided to augment the numbers by inviting their mothers to join! Thus the Cardonald Ladies' Choir was formed in 1988.

Membership is now no longer just mothers and daughters or from the Cardonald area but is widespread with many members travelling from Giffnock, Paisley, Thornliebank, Cathcart and even Largs, Kilwinning and Ayr.

The choir has taken part in many Festivals and Competitions and has given concerts in many different venues. Nowadays the choir mainly sings for Guilds, charities, weddings and festivals.

Our programmes are varied and include Religious music, Scottish songs, Folk songs from many different countries and Traditional choral music. We have made threerecordings ("Rejoice!" - a selection of well-loved hymns; "Celebrate!" - music for Christmas and Easter and a third CD was produced in 2008 to mark our 21st Anniversary celebrations.

We support the Church and local, national and international charities. Moneys in our funds are disbursed at the end of each session. Since 1991, we have donated £13,841 (as at May 2011) to various good causes.

New members are always very welcome.

We meet in Cardonald Parish Church Session Room each Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. from September through to May.
